How to translate FreeNote language file
Since many users are currently helping us translating FreeNote,
before starting to work contact
us and check that the translation you want to contribute
had not been already available.
Generating a language file is easy, just follow this step by
step guide:
- Download the latest version and install it
- Find the FreeNote directory (usually c:\program files\freenote)
- Copy the file english.lang to another file named as your
language, example: italiano.lang
- Edit the new file with notepad or another plain text editor
(do NOT use Word, Wordpad or similar), and translate all the
sentences AFTER the = char
- Select the correct LocaleID: at the beginning of the file
you will see a line which starts with LocaleID= followed by
4 numbers. Change the 4 numbers with the numbers which identifies
the language in the Microsoft
Table of Language Identifiers. You must take only the
last 4 digits; example: Italian language code is 0x0410, the
resuling line should be "LocaleID=0410"
- To test your language file, start FreeNote, open Options
window, select your language file and restart FreeNote
FreeNote language file contains about 100 senteces to translate.
Once the translation file is finished and widely tested, please
send it to us at support@mgshareware.com
and we will include it in the next release of FreeNote.
As a reward, we will put your name and eventually a link to
your web site or email address, on the About window of FreeNote
and show it when the user select your language file!
